Here are some important updates to the Boss Black August Block Party, a celebration of resilience, community, and the spirit of Black liberation!
Boss Black August Block Party is excited to welcome you to the stage on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at City Hall in Oakland.
Event Details
Performance Set Times: Each performer will have a 10-12 minute slot to showcase their talent with up to three songs. We can’t wait to see you shine!
No Profanity: Performances must be respectful and authentic, aligning with the upliftment and liberation of Black folks. Songs, poems, and speeches should be profane-free.
DJ Requirements: Upload your music here (quickest) or provide it in MP3 format to DJ Pretty Handsome at prettyhandsomeent@gmail.com. Share any specific arrangements or cues for your set directly with the DJ. A meet-and-greet is planned for the night before the performance.
Stipend & Promotion
- You will receive a stipend for your performance unless other arrangements have been made with Chef Satia Only.
- Promote the event on your social media channels using our official hashtags (#BOSSBlackAugust2024, #BlackAugustBlockParty, #BOSSImpact) and tag @bossbayarea.
- Send us your completed W9 form as soon as possible.
- Provide the DJ with your music and any directions, if applicable.
- No stipends will be given if the above requirements are not met – NO EXCEPTIONS!!
Exact Performance Time: You will receive your exact performance time before the event at the meet and greet to ensure ample time to prepare for the main stage.
Mic Checks & Doors Open: Mic checks are available between 10:00 AM and 10:45 AM. Please plan accordingly. Doors open at 10:00 AM for vendors.
Meet and Greet: A meet-and-greet event will be held the night before the Block Party. Join us to connect with other performers and event organizers. More details will be sent closer to the event date.
